Adamello Ski Raid Adamello Ski Raid La grande course
Edizione 2025

Everyone at work to create an unforgettable edition

These are days of intense work at high altitude, these, for the orange jackets of the organizing committee of the Adamello Ski Raid, a classic ski mountaineering event, which will celebrate its ninth edition on Saturday 5 April, valid for the international circuit La Grande Course. A competition with start and finish in Ponte di Legno and development among the peaks and glaciers of Lombardy and Trentino, which will take place in the traditional formula in pairs, reflecting the spirit of mountain excursions.

The latest news concerns the fact that the race route has been confirmed, identical to that of the 2023 edition, as confirmed by the president of the organizing committee Alessandro Mottinelli: «At high altitude the snow is abundant thanks to the continuous snowfalls of these weeks and the route is in excellent conditions. For this reason, the route from two years ago will be proposed again, with Cima Venerocolo as the queen of the race, from where you can admire the suggestive north face of Adamello, then the other significant passages at Cresta Croce near the cannon of the Great War and with the difficulties, but at the same time the spectacularity, of the passage on the ridge, which this year will also be equipped safely with a rope, but without excessive aid, given that the technical level has risen significantly. Then the athletes will tackle the Tre Denti pass, the Pisgnanino glacier and the final descent towards the center of Ponte di Legno. The only new feature about halfway along the route is the return (compared to 2023) of the suggestive Ski Raid canal, which however will be traveled uphill. The start is scheduled for 6 in the morning from Tonalina, for a total of 39 km and 3,115 meters of positive difference in altitude and 3,455 in negative». Priority to high-level competitors, but this edition also includes enthusiasts and hikers. Precisely for this reason, the first edition of the Adamello Ski Raid Experience will also take place on Saturday 5 April.
Alessandro Mottinelli always talks about it: «Ski mountaineering is changing, it is increasingly attractive and is attracting many enthusiasts. For this reason we decided to create a new event, on the same day as the race, without tight skis and without stress. A different format, called experience, for those who have never worn the suit or have abandoned it and want to spend a day in the mountains to meet other enthusiasts and in safety, thanks to the presence of the orange jackets. The route designed for has an uphill difference in altitude of about 600 meters and about 2,400 meters downhill to Ponte di Legno, with a total length of 16 kilometers. A return to the origins».
There are around 200 workers, technicians in charge of competition and safety, who in over ten years of work on the race fields have developed significant professionalism, thanks also to the numerous training sessions held by the mountain guide Guido Salvetti and the course manager Mario Sterli.
It is once again Mottinelli who underlines some identifying aspects of the Adamello Ski Raid: «We are always very pleased that the athletes in the race can be accompanied by the warmth of the public. For this reason, the cable car from Passo del Tonale will be open with free access from 5.30 to 6.30. For all other information, including the registration procedures active until March 27, just consult the website www.adamelloskiraid.com».
As for the big names, there are still no certainties on the formation of the pairs, but in the next few days the first confirmations will surely arrive, also considering the rich prize money put up for grabs by the Organizing Committee.
