On 10 April the 7th edition of the Adamello Ski Raid
The wait was long, but now the Adamello Ski Raid, the prestigious ski mountaineering competition that takes place every two years between Lombardy and Trentino, is on the launching pad. The seventh edition will take place on Saturday 10 April, organized, as usual, by the Adamello Ski Team, thanks to the experience gained last December, when they organized the first stage of the specialty World Cup in Ponte di Legno.
In two months, about 160 teams will therefore battle on a new path, designed to adapt to the circumstances and above all to remedy the unavailability of mountain huts, fundamental support for logistics, but no less selective and fascinating than the traditional one.
«In any case, an excellent mountaineering experience, in addition to a good physical preparation, will be necessary to participate in this race - explains the president of the organizing committee Alessandro Mottinelli - since we have made the track even more technical to compensate for its reduction: it will have a length 34 kilometers and an overall positive difference in height of 3,400 meters. The pandemic forces us to welcome fewer couples than usual, but it remains a top appointment».
Registrations will open from the first minute of next Monday (8 February) and must be sent, as usual, using the appropriate section on the La Grande Course website. There is time until March 29 or until the 160 places available for each couple run out. In the event that the number of requests exceeds availability, the curriculum of the athletes and the date of submission of the form will be taken into consideration to establish priorities. There will be time until March 29 to communicate the change in pairs.
Since the Grand Course circuit will not take place this year, the Pierra Menta program reduced to a single day of competition and the Mezzalama canceled, the Adamello Ski Raid 2021 will be a Fisi race open to foreigners. The headquarters, as usual, will be set up at the sports hall in Ponte di Ponte di Legno, a large structure capable of hosting briefings, awards and final pasta party at best.
